Neil Blog – Coventry Festival is go…
The Coventry Festival of Motoring took place this weekend, and even a sharp shower couldn’t dampen our enthusiasm. My wife enjoyed it too, especially when I managed not to buy any more cars. Just…
We’ve all got our favourite classic car events, and mine is the Coventry Festival of Motoring. It’s not just that it’s held at a park less than five minutes from where I live either, I’ve been coming to it since I was a little boy.
It’ll always be known as the Shakespeare Run to me, but name changes aside it’s a staple of my classic car year and I wouldn’t miss it...

Le Mans – the name oozes romance and excitement for every classic car enthusiast. It's the place where legends are created and who of us hasn't owned a Le Mon at sometime or another?
Steve McQueen added to the mystique in the 1971 film of the same name. But for all this, I had never been there so I decided to incorporate the Le Mans Classic as the centrepiece of this year’s holiday (the event alternates between the 24 hour endurance race for today's manufacturers and the 'Le Mans Classic')
Despite the Scimitar doing its best to soak up the time leading u...

Goodwood Festival of Speed
Roving PC snapper and old metal enthusiast, Seth Kennedy, reports from Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Goodwood House once again became the destination of choice for thousands of automotive fans this past weekend. The Festival of Speed has an incredible draw thanks to the huge variation of exhibits and goings on. Many people come for a close up glimpse of their modern F1 or WRC heroes but for admirers of classic machinery there is even more on offer.
The Cartier Style et Luxe had ...

I've wanted a VW Beetle as long as I can remember. I even worked at a VW workshop/breakers part time during my last few years of school. But I never quite got around to getting one.
Over the last few months I got the 'bug' again. The fact that my son is Beetle-crazy had a lot to do with it and then my lovely wife told me to go out and buy one. Her only stipulation was that it needed to have decent boot space.
1971-1975 Super Beetles have a Macpherson Strut front end which meant a couple of decent sized suitcases would actually fit in the front boot. Or my d...

Call it bad planning if you like but a few weeks ago I had to take both my roadworthy vehicles to the MOT station on the same day.
The Scimitar GTE was first up. Despite being off the road for about 2 years it passed without a hitch, which was a good omen. Next up was the Rover 216. Now before I hear lots of 216ist remarks like 'that'll never be a classic', let me point out that the old girl has been giving good service to the Faulkner family for most of her 19 years on the road.
Anyway, that tired CV gaite...

PC’s Caribbean adventure
Neil ‘luckyboy’ Campbell joins the intrepid Oxford Universities Motorsports Foundation in their bid to win the 2010 Sol Rally of Barbados. Well someone had to do it...
Ok, so I know it may sound like a bit of an easy assignment – boo hoo, Neil is in Barbados, woe is me etc, but the Sol Rally is a serious event with serious competitors and a serious amount of hard graft required to prepare for the event.
What i’m saying is that it’s not all been swimming with turtles, catamaran cruises, rum punch, sunburn and dining at Just Grillin’, a...

The last MOT on our Bond GT4S had a warning about uneven front brake balance, so a full rebuild was called for.
Our shopping list included a new copper brake pipe set, Goodridge braided hoses all round, seal kits for everything and new pads (the shoes were fine). With this level of rebuild, it makes sense to invest in silicone fluid. It doesn't absorb water from the air so never needs changing, it doesn't corrode the cylinders and won't strip the paint in the event of an accidental spillage.

Ray Collier blog, part three
Progress has been quite slow on the TR7 mainly due to a house move and Mrs Woodworm wanting some decorating doing.
I have found though that everyone in the TR fraternity is very helpful especially the guys at Rimmer brothers who not only sell you everything you need they talk you through how to do the job too.
I decided to remove and inspect/rebuild the water pump on the car as it is integral to the engine I didn’t want to get the car running only to damage the engine, as the guys on the f...

PC Behind the Scenes
Cold Hatches was the big idea. I was to get together a collection of hatchback cars most famous for their hot hatch brothers and try to prove that they were just as good. Tricky? No, not really.
Organising any photoshoot can be a fraught affair and it’s one aspect of producing a magazine feature that you probably haven’t thought much about.
Finding the cars we need, in this case cars with very specific trim levels, and then getting them to meet at the same location, at the same time on the same day with the minimum of inconvenience to all concerned is not easy.
