FBHVC latest news - European Historic Vehicle Group is go?
Posted: 11:35am, 29 June 2010
The FBHVC has been working closely with the international FIVA organisation, and the lobbying organisation EPPA, to develop a EU Historic Vehicles Group.
The Federation Of British Historic Vehicle Clubs has been working with the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) to develop an Historic Vehicles Group within the framework of the European parliament. The new organisation will be similar similar to the All Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group that operates in the UK.
FHBVC are pleased to announce that several groups of MEPs with a keen interest in the historic vehicle movement have been identified. The group will be chaired by the German MEP Bernd Lange, part of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
The European Parliament has agreed to chair the inaugural meeting in Strasbourg on 6 July 2010. Representatives from FIVA and EPPA have been invited to address the meeting, including Andrew Burt from the UK who is a senior vice-president of FIVA. The FBHVC’s legislation committee chairman, David Hurley will also be in attendance.
The group will aim to harmonise EU legislation and could eventually lead to an EU wide understanding that could see the return of rolling tax exemption status in the UK. For more information, and for the latest on legislation, visit www.fhbvc.co.uk
