Postby scottmclaren » Fri May 01, 2009 10:56 pm

It finally arrived tonight - worth the wait but I think its worth it
I,m going to start this blog properly tomorrow and include photos - its sat on a trailer outside - first thing will be to free off the seized handbrake which has been on for 30 yrs so I can roll it off the trailer !
wee question - how do I add photos to this ?

Hi Scott,

Congrats on getting the beastie. Handbrake on the Wolseley freed off after a judicious application of a copper-faced universal adjuster to the brake drums.........

Easiest way of sticking up piccies is to host through Photobucket or similar and post the links.

Good luck,
Penguin45.

Look in the "Hints & Tips on using the Forum" section, several threads on the subject there.

Cheers :D

Make sure you've got photos BEFORE it comes off the trailer (unless it's alread off in nwhich case you're off and running! )

I'm looking forward to this Blog, a 54 Somerset, especially one bought in circumstances like yours is a PROPER classic.

Good Luck with it and keep us all up to date, please! :D

WAHEY - that worked so we,re off and running ( 4 edits later !)
Right heres the story of what happened -
Went to view the car and did a ton of research to see what it was worth ! (As you do ! )
Made the owner a pretty good offer - or so I thought !
He said yes !
Phone call next day - he,s changed his mind !
Met him 4 days later when he flagged me down in the car and he asked could I stretch the offer by an extra £10 !?
Well I said yeah ok ????
He said " I,ve been thinking that £25 seems low - do you think you could give me £35 ? "
" eh " says I " I offered you £250 " !!!!!
Well the stitches come out next week from where they reattatched my arm to my shoulder !! ( I,m an honest person & hes an old guy & I know him and couldnt rip him off and live with myself - ok ? )

Saturday morning - the car hasnt moved in nearly 30 yrs !
Been sat in a decaying wooden garage - with the hand-brake on !
First things first - get the wheels off - removed the rear drums ( suprisingly easily ! ) remove brake shoes and get it off the trailer
